Sylvania Tablet Review – Many people give the Sylvania Tablet negative reviews because they simply don’t understand what they’re purchasing. For one it’s not an ipad or anything even comparable so don’t even expect it to be or you’re going to be disappointed. And two, the tablet they purchased may have included the Android 2.1 which is, I’ll admit absolutely horrible for this machine. But all you got to do is upgrade to 2.2 and you’ll have a decent nice running machine for an extremely affordable price.
If you’re thinking about purchasing the Sylvania Android Tablet I wrote this review based on my own experience so you can make a more informed decison before you lock in that decision to buy.
My Sylvania Android Tablet Review
I bought the Sylvania Tablet because I wanted an e-reader that can surf the web and also play games. I definitely did not need to dish out $600 on an ipad or other tablet for that!
I picked my Sylvania Tablet up for only $75 for a black friday promotion so I jumped on it real quick. I also bought an 16GB Micro SD card for it as well cause the one I bought only came with 256mb ram so a Micro SD card was a must. (Some versions include upto 1GB RAM you just have to check the specs)

When I first started using the Sylvania Tablet, it was severely limited in it’s funcionality. This was due to the fact that it was running Adroid 2.1. Luckily I did my research previously so I already new that it was running so poorly because it needed to be upgraded to Android 2.2 (Some Sylvania Tablets already come equiped with 2.2, check the specs)
If I would not have know that previously I literally would have driven by Toys R Us and flung that sucker as hard as I could at their window. It was really that aweful. This is why you may see alot of negative reviews on the Syalvania Tablet because many people may not have known this so don’t listen to them.
That and they were probably expecting something similar to the Ipad for $99…yeah right!
Too bad they didn’t do a little reearch cause they could have saved themselves the headache and had a pretty cool little tablet for cheap.

Anyhow, When I finally got the OS upgraded to 2.2 it worked pefectly. The Android 2.2 update made a HUGE difference. I had access to tons of apps, books and magazines in the market place which prior to the update were inaccessable. I was able my favorite game Angry Birds which played flawlessly. The included e-reader kinda sucks but you can always download a different one such as the Kindle app if you’re not happy.
I also noticed that using the stylus on the Sylvania Tablet absolutely sucks. Using your fingernail works much better. I’d rather do it that way anyhow so that didn’t bother me at all. The Sylvania Tablet also icudes a Youtube app which allowed me to view Youtube videos just fine. I was also able to visit my Facebook and Twitter page without any problems.
Like I said, the Sylvania Tablet is definately no Ipad or any other similar tablet but at the end of the day, this tablet does exactly what I wanted it to do. It plays games, surfs the web, has an ereader, watches videos AND does all this at a dirt cheap price. It’s a great starter tablet for simple operations or even for kids.
Conclusion:
At a little over $100 or less this tablet is great! And if Sylvania continues to add updates as they have, you’ll have a nice little toy to keep you busy until you can save enough money to buy an ipad!
